Our Brand

We are Ō and Kō (formerly Ō The Bake Shop) a dynamic food concept rooted in heritage and community. This rebranding reflects our growth while honoring the rich multicultural history of Hawaii’s agricultural community (an inspiration from the beginning) and the spirit of aloha that connects us all.

Ō signifies provisions for a journey—an invitation to savor flavors and stories

While Kō, ‘Ōlelo Hawaii (Hawaiian language) word for sugar cane, represents the sweetness of community. Together, Ō and Kō captures our mission to create a welcoming space that celebrates diversity through exceptional food. Join us in celebrating heritage and flavors as we embark on this exciting journey at the newly branded Ō and Kō!

What we do

We are a small speciality shop that produces and sells our handcrafted baked goods and snacks. When we say small we mean it.

Open Fridays and Saturdays 10AM-2PM

Our malasada story

Malasadas are a fried yeasted donut. A lightly sweetened, heavy on the eggs, dough that’s rolled in sugar. It was brought to Hawaii by Portuguese immigrants and quickly became one of Hawaii’s favorite tasty treats. We learned to make malasadas using our Vovo’s (Portuguese nickname for grandma) Malasada recipe as inspiration. Selling both drop-style malasadas and the more well-known double rise and filled, leaning into our PNW surroundings to create unique fillings. Until recently. Due to expenses and exhaustion we took these beautiful creatures off our menu.

However, our malasada dough is available for purchase. Make them at home and get the best version of a malasada - HOT and FRESH and made by you!
